Wi-Fi Troubleshooting Before You Buy a New Router

Reboot modem and router, then test speed near the router versus far rooms. A big gap suggests placement or interference, not always dead hardware.

Move routers off the floor and away from microwaves and thick masonry. One thoughtful relocation beats a pricey mesh kit you do not need.

Update firmware from the manufacturer’s site or app. Old firmware causes mysterious drops.

If you still need mesh, place nodes where the signal is medium—not where it is already dead. Nodes need a healthy upstream signal to help.
